Wheatgrass: Its Nutritional Wisdom

Historically, the discovery of it was sprouted with Charles F. Schnabel’s discovery during the 1930’s as an agricultural chemist. Wheatgrass is a product obtained from the cotyledons of the common wheat plant with a scientific name of “Triticum Aestivum”. It is sold either in juice and powder as widely distributed now in the market used as a dietary supplement. Generally, wheatgrass refers to bread wheat, a type of grass cultivated in a greenhouse or under artificial lighting indoors. Thus, it is grown through the process of sprouting.

Wheatgrass is acclaimed to have nutritional benefits since it contains high levels of beta carotene relatively with Vitamin B12. It also contains a host of amino acids which is full of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, Vitamins A, C, and B is high in iron and Vitamin K. Vitamin K is necessary for blood clotting and bone formation and may help to prevent osteoporosis.

Furthermore, wheatgrass contains many enzymes. Enzymes are complex protein compounds that speeds up biochemical reactions for proper and normal organ system functioning. It also contains fiber to help and aid proper digestion.

More importantly, wheatgrass contains chlorophyll, a green pigment in plants responsible for photosynthesis. This chlorophyll is claimed to have a regenerative properties. Further supported with studies, it has power as an immune booster, free radical fighter, energizer, and promoter of healthy circulation. Thus, chlorophyll in wheatgrass is a very potent antioxidant. Thus, contains anti-bacterial and restorative properties to function as a general detoxification of the body.

OVER-ALL REFLECTION PAPER
(February 1, 8, and 15 Tuesday Group Discussions)

The over – all reflection on the activities are indeed splendid in such a way that I’ve learned a lot in which I never expected to be. Thus, it was very effective.

With the first activity about Brain Tattoo is very amazing in learning on great importance and value of branding. Branding is not only limited to symbol, logo, colors, and even graphics but it is an inner core message aiming to create a deep relationship and engrave on its customers hearts and mind on what is the company’s brand and product’s real image as they want to project it would be. It is a form of communication that targets the inner being of a customer through its psychological, cognitive, and even emotional compartments. Thus, branding is a way to create a brain tattoo that would mean a long – term memory of a certain company brand and product in every customer they have.

Secondly, the activity which is to brand oneself is indeed a challenging one yet an opportunity to be known internally surpassing the beauty of external physicalities. I did see and take the activity as an opportunity to express myself thru branding myself as far as my innate being is concerned. It’s an opportunity in the sense of expressing yourself purely of your innate being that no other can ever dictate or complain on the brand name you have for yourself.

Thirdly, the learning on mistakes depicted the life of Mr. Richard Branson of the Virgin Group of Companies on how he did his way of doing business into a giant one and so did rising everytime he fail and commit mistakes. It was an eye and heart opener to each one of us especially for me, relating and even reminiscing my own mistakes and how did or what I did learned from all the mistakes I’ve committed. Thus, life is a matter of choice and having the wisdom to learn from what is done wrong. I’ve learned that if you cannot change the situation, then, change your attitude towards the situation. In that case, surely, you will be able to move on, be the student of your own experiences and wrong doings that affected you in the past.
